Westchester Walk for World Water

By Institute for Sustainability and the Environment

Date and time

Saturday, April 21, 2018 · 9:30am - 1pm EDT

Location

Pace University - Pleasantville Campus

861 Bedford Road Pleasantville, NY 10570

Description

Co-sponsored by Pace University's Dyson College Institute for Sustainability and the Environment and the Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation (CELF), the Walk will raise awareness of the global water crisis.

In solidarity with those who must do so daily, participants will walk one mile through Pace University’s Pleasantville campus with buckets of water on their heads to simulate the search for drinking water. This task is most often given to women and children, in turn continuing cyclical poverty by forcing children to miss school and keeping women from caring for themselves and their families in other ways. Too often their search brings home water that is not even safe to drink.
